Get to Know the Real Me!

Life... Uncut

I graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a B.A. in Advertising and interned at Peter Mayer Advertising.

I worked in New Home Sales for over a decade as the lead Graphic Designer and Marketing Director. What an Amazing Team!

Welcome to Pixels and Pearls!
Sharon } Owner/Designer

I believe this is the part where I introduce myself with a far-fetched bio, listing all of my accomplishments and accolades. Oh’ and the unforgettable, heartwarming story of how it has always been my lifelong dream to operate my very own business. <Spoiler Alert> this could not be further from the truth! Generally speaking, I have always been your go-to gal when an intricate project or a simple task needed to be completed … you know - like making sure the boss had his coffee… two sugars, one teaspoon of creamer, piping hot, and served with a smile :)
But on a serious note, serving others, working and collaborating on a team, experiencing the creative breakthrough of a project is possibly the greatest accomplishment and feeling. I relish a sounding board of co-workers, water cooler dialogue; and shopping for new work attire.

To be quite frank, the notion of running my own business never seemed to pique my interest until my children began growing up right before my eyes. The infamous “aha moment” happened as I was picking them up late from school one afternoon. Like an uncut scene from the movies, I sat at a stop light wondering why I was missing out on the three greatest blessings the Lord had ever given me. It wasn’t long after I took the plunge  I mean, "leap of faith" to kickoff Pixels & Pearls. By which, I had no business name at the time, however I did have three clients. Yes, that longstanding expression, “the cobbler with no shoes, not even flip flops” applied directly to me.

It was undeniably gut wrenching at first, but after a few weeks sporting yoga pants and whole lot of dry shampoo, I realized that this new chapter of my life would be a refining process. My perception had to change if I was going to succeed; so I took a step back and relinquished control of what may become of this newborn venture. During this time, I was reminded of how much I loved designing and serving others. My clients ultimately became my new "co-workers" and their business growth and notable success became my triumphs. Eventually, I traded my nine-to-five day job for crazy all night marathons of deadlines which included - creating and managing websites, designing logos, brochures, business cards, and other essential marketing pieces. It's been an adventure of peaks and valleys along the way. This life vows very few certainties however, change is inevitable. Courage and change are a peculiar pair, but you can't do one without the other!

So, if you are looking for a change in your current marketing designs or strategy, I welcome the opportunity to create your business a new backdrop for success!
